Volunteers’ Week is a time to celebrate everyone who helps in our communities, both young and old. This week one of our Falkirk Bairns had an ingenious idea to help in his community, 5 year old Dexter selected some of his toys that he wanted to offer to other kids in his community who might like something new to play with, wiped them down with his mum, and arranged them in a ‘toy shop’ outside his house so other families could safely select something to take home.
Dexter told us, “I made my toy shop because people can’t go to toy shops because of the bug! I wanted to make people happy and share my things.”
Dexter’s mum Victoria couldn’t be prouder of his kind act, she told us.
“Dexter is somewhat of a toy hoarder, aren’t all 5 year olds? So usually it’s hard to get him to part with anything but I’m so proud of his toy shop idea and how eager he was to share his things to make others happy. It was only meant to be for one day but he wants to do it every day until lots have people have come to his toy shop!”
Thank you Dexter, you really are a fantastic Falkirk Bairn!
