Our Development Officer Scott’s interest in our local third sector extends beyond his work at CVS Falkirk – he also volunteers for a mountain biking charity. He told us:
“After seeing our mountain bike trails being removed, some mountain bikers and friends started a group to work towards increasing participation in mountain biking and the benefits that brings. We started Rebound in 2011 with a view to building a Bikepark for the community to enjoy.
“I am on the Board of Rebound but also volunteer in other ways such as leading group of mountain bikers, organising events, running a club and hopefully, in the future, an endure race.
“Our mountain bike club, RED MTB, runs weekly and has grown to include some amateur racers. We are looking to expand the club by running regular sessions for children and young people. We also hope to manage existing trails in the local area as a stepping stone towards funding our Bikepark.”

“Volunteering motivates me to think how other could benefit from mountain biking and how mountain biking can positively effect my geographical area through increasing the fitness of the community, tourism or environmental positives. It also has a hugely positive impact on my mental and physical health and wellbeing.
“If I had to use 3 words to sum up my volunteering they would be community, helpful and fun!”
