#VolunteersMakeADifference: Volunteers Celebrate NSPCC’s Childhood Day

Following on from Volunteers’ Week 2023’s theme of “Celebrate and Inspire”, earlier in June, a significant volunteer-led campaign took place to fundraise for Childhood Day, organised by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).

The NSPCC has revealed that volunteer collections from Glasgow and Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium alone raised an incredible total of £4,983.70!

These funds, and all funds raised for Childhood Day, will be used to support the NSPCC’s work in Scotland, helping to protect children from abuse and neglect:

  • £4 could answer a child’s call to ChildLine – that’s over 1,240 calls from the £4,983.70 alone!
  • 150 could pay for one Helpline practitioner’s shift – £4,983.70 could pay for over 30 shifts!
  • £1,600 could pay to recruit, train and support a ChildLine Volunteer – that’s another 3 full trained volunteers supporting the children who call.

Sandra Jones, the Community Fundraising Manager for the NSPCC in Scotland, extended her thanks to all volunteers who made this possible, “…including the volunteers 27 from Morgan Stanley, and the Glasgow Rock Choir, who performed twice!”
